_{HALEN. met at 17. when bill and ted were busy stocking up on supplies at the goldenrod city pokemart one friday night, they ran into a mysterious man who claimed to be from east nowhere, who knows where. when asked for a first name, he said he didn’t have a first name or even a surname because where he was from— they didn’t use first or surnames anymore. he did claim to have a middle name, though and that aforestated middle name was rufus. wary of him at first, bill and ted decide to call out their pokemon in an attempt to battle the stranger. as it turns out, the elder was not there to fight bill and ted but to help them. giving them both the gift of one (1) rockruff each. since they’d never seen this type of pokemon anywhere in the johto region, the boys were delighted to accept the gifts and believed him. rufus said the rock puppy pokemon was a great catch for beginners like them and after reaching a certain level that they would help keep their newfound trainers on the correct path to become one if not the greatest pokemon trainers of all time. even greater than the legend himself, now a significant part of the johto league elite four: e.ddie v/an hal!en, who ted decided to name his after. 
HENDRIX: met at 17. when professor elm of the johto region offered bill and ted a choice of three pokemon, bill s. preston esquire selected totodile, the big jaw pokemon while ted ‘theodore’ logan’s first selection was the fire mouse pokemon, cyndaquil. the friends rush home to pack their bags after that, excited to finally leave the most uneventful life they had behind to embark on this most excellent pocket monster collecting expedition. after a few weeks of traveling together, bill and ted decided to part ways. since they each wanted to have something to remind him of the other friend and wanted to make the parting hurt a little less, they decide to trade. ted’s quilava ended accompanying bill to sinnoh and bill’s croconaw accompanied ted to the unova region. named after a former member of the johto elite four, ji.mi hendr/ix. 
VAI: met at 19. the hardest catch. and training his stubborn ass was a pain in ted’s to put it mildly. refuses to listen to ted’s instruction a lot of the time and even has even gone so far as to attack. pulls his own stunts in battle which comes in handy, though. especially when ted can’t think of a good stragedy. named it after a former champion of the johto pokemon league and now member of the unova elite four, st.eve v/ai.
CATRINA: met at 24 but started pursuing ted and halen on their adventures long before then. she enjoyed sneaking up on him when he wasn’t looking to scare him, steal halen’s food and play tricks on both of them. when ted and halen finally caught her in the act, she turned out to be someone else’s pokemon. spooky, ‘dead-looking’ dude who was into the occult and specialized in breeding ghost type pokemon. he insisted ted to call him ‘the grim reaper’ or ‘death’ when they first met and after ted admitted that he had warmed up to the duskull, ‘death’ said that he could keep her if he challenged him to a contest. but if he lost, he would have to remain in hell ( aka his pokemon breeding center and help him raise the ghost type pokemon ) forever. after beating ‘death’ at the grand total of seven games, ted was able to add duskull to his team. and since she was a girl, he ended up naming her after a well known symbol of lady death on behalf of spooky, ‘dead-looking’ dude. since her trainer had the godawful habit of babying her, la muerte refused to evolve when her time came, thinking he wouldn’t pamper her as much if she evolved into dusclops. and…ironically enough, she’s permanently attached to her reaper cloth. 
ZAPPA: met at 22 and caught in the wild.
