vh headcans no1 asked for but
ted was first introduced to v.h when he was 8 (
it was a snippet from ‘da.nce the night away’, one of their more popular songs from their sophomore attempt ) but he really didn’t think much of it since he was hyperaffixed to eternian heroes back in the day.
it wasn’t till ted heard v.an h/alen again, two years later that he started to get into them. they were in bill’s garage, bored out of their minds since they’d watched that rerun that was on tv about a thousand times, had played every board game in the house and it was far too wet to skate outside. that’s when bill suggested they turn the radio on, flipped through the stations some and when eruption / you really got me off their first album came on: it was love at first guitar riff
v.an hal.en ii was not only t.ed’s first van halen record, it was ted’s first record ever
ed.ward lod/ewijk va.n hale!n got ted to pick up his first guitar in 1982
ted will not, under any circumstance take sides in the ha.ggar / r.oth debate. even if the first v.an hal!en does have a very special place in his heart for getting him into this glorious music genre, he realizes that both vocalists’ brought something really unique to the table. he isn’t too fond of people taking sides when the music’s overall job should be bringing like minded people together as opposed to seperating them
takes a while but after ws finally does end up kicking their music career into gear but when it does, ted uses vh songs to practice his improvisation. when he’s not shredding it up to crazy classical guys, that is !
since his v.h’s favorite scales, riff’s, chords, etc are baked into his fingertips, he’s mostly connected with his inner ear and hates relying purely on finger memory when he’s writing / compsing new ws’ music to avoid sounding like them. this, can make it ov 9000 times easier for ted to procrastinate, by the way !
ted’s closet mostly consists of more v.an hal!en shirts than anything else
part of that twenty five grand ws supposedly won after kicking the battle of the bands in the ass according to excellent comic book, probably went to buy front row tickets to vh’s upcoming concert at the time.
he’s never been able to go to a show before age 24, or any show— save the verse i have w/ jibs dude @n/otamailman, cause he never had enough money to go to one. dad would give him his allowance every once in a long while (every week, lmao) but he isn’t very good at saving money with all those blue frost drinks at the circle k calling his name.
despite eds not being at the very top of his list of musicians he looks up to as he broadens his already musical horizons, he will always be continuing source of inspiration for him
and ted still listens to v.an halen on a modern setting, yes and they’re just as influential as they are in main
